Letter From The Director

Welcome to the VCIL Web Site

Friends,

I welcome you to the Independent Living movement!

The Independent Living movement started in the 1970s. It is a movement that includes people with all types of disabilities and focuses on improving the lives of people with disabilities and fighting against discrimination.

The Vermont Center for Independent Living was founded in 1979 and is a statewide nonprofit organization. We share together in the challenges as a people and work together for dignity, independence and civil rights.

I encourage you to get involved in our movement. VCIL is a civil rights organization and in order to keep our movement strong, we need you. Check out our community meeting schedule or stop by one of our branch offices so we can get to know you. Please join us on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.

We’d like to meet you. Please feel free to give us a call, or send an email with your ideas and stories. If you have questions, contact us at 1-800-639-1522.

In Solidarity,

Sarah Wendell Launderville
Executive Director
