Dance In Downtown Montpelier To Celebrate The ADA

July 12, 2012

MONTPELIER — Montpelier’s downtown will be dancing on July 26. A free community dance and party to celebrate the 22nd anniversary of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act will be held behind the Vermont Center for Independent Living offices at 11 East State Street.

The event is sponsored by VCIL, a statewide disability rights organization offering programs and services for Vermonters with disabilities.

The Inaccessibles, VCIL’s house band, will provide entertainment and dance tunes from 5 to 7 p.m. Come enjoy give-aways and check out informational tables and specials on food and merchandise that participating merchants will be offering.

The parking area adjacent to VCIL’s offices will be closed for the day to afford plenty of room for all of the festivities.

Participating merchants include GuitarSam, The Quirky Pet, Village Pizza, Petals and Things and Bagitos Bagel & Burrito Cafe.

VCIL Executive Director Sarah Launderville said, “We look forward to bringing the community together and appreciate the business community’s involvement and support of people with disabilities.”

More information about the dance party can be found at www.vcil.org, or by contacting Advocacy Manager Mark Kaufman at mkaufman@vcil.org or 802-229-0501.
