Title: Special Olympics 2008 Summer Games Date: 5/31/2008 Time: Organization: Special Olympics Vermont Description: Special Olympics Vermont will host the 39th Annual Summer Games at UVM. One hundred coaches and more than 200 volunteers will provide support throughout the entire weekend to ensure a successful event. The games will include Unified Sports teams which comprise individuals with and without intellectual disabilities on the same team. Spectators are welcomed and encouraged to support all Special Olympic Vermont athletes. The theater is wheelchair accessible and ASL interpretation will be provided. Cost: Free Contact: 1-800-750-1213 Where: City Hall, Montpelier Title: Cheer on KeyBank Vermont City Marathon Participants Date: 5/25/2008 Time: 8 am Organization: Northeast Disabled Athletic Association Description: A record number of "wheeled" competitors will be lining up to race in the 20th anniversary marathon. Fifteen competitors will be trying to finish the 26.2-mile course in handcycles and push-rim wheelchairs. Come out and support the racers in this great event. Cost: Contact: Patrick Standen, 862-6322 Where: The marathon starts at Battery Park, wends its way throughout the city and ends in the beautiful waterfront park. Title: GBDC Kickball Date: 5/10/2008 Time: 1 - 4 pm Organization: Greater Burlington Deaf Club Description: All are welcome: Deaf, Hard of Hearing, hearing signers, children, etc. Anyone ages 1 to 100 can play kickball! This is a potluck event. Please bring a dish to share and your own plates/bowls and utensils. Kickball will be played at the smaller field after the meal.
